This is a unique documentary of Irish author Samuel Beckett - one of the towering figures in the history of the theatre, and probably the most famous playwright of the 20th century, whose works have been translated into over 20 languages. In 1969 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for Literature (and, in a typically bizarre aside, he also, briefly, played first-class cricket)...
The conversations consisted often of silences directed towards each other. Both suffused with sadness. Beckett mostly for the world, Joyce for himself. Their literary paths slowly diverged as it became clear that Finnegans wake sought to put everything in while Beckett’s work sought to take everything out.
The reckoning closed and the story ended there we are, there I am that's enough.
《Samuel Beckett: Silence to Silence》可太精彩了。
